Financial Counselors help fulfill the mission of People's Community Clinic by screening and enrolling patients in various insurance products in a sensitive and respectful manner.

 

The starting hourly pay rate for this position is between $17 - $19 hourly.

This position may require occasional coverage at out North location. 

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients promptly upon their arrival to the clinic. Print patient registration form/physician’s schedule from practice management system.
  • Review uninsured accounts for possible coverage, including checking patient eligibility for Medicaid.
  • Process and document all income information and patient demographics according to the policy “Release of Medical Records”, obtaining authorization, and copies of patient identification card.
  • Provide assistance to patients applying for Medicaid and other programs.
  • Process patient eligibility information through Medicaider.
  • Resolve issues with application process and requests from Medicaid Office Personnel.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow, work processes and patient care, and work cooperatively to implement these and other quality improvements.
  • Adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Must be able to work at any PCC location depending on business needs.
  •  Occasional overtime may be required depending on business needs.
  •  Evening or weekend hours may be required depending on business needs.

Qualifications

Education:  High School Diploma/GED. Some college preferred.

 

Experience: Two years of experience working in a physician’s office or healthcare facility; financial counseling experience strongly preferred.

 

Certificate/License:  None

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to interact successfully with people from a variety of backgrounds and abilities
  • Basic computer literacy, including working with databases
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical records and practice management systems
  • Ability to multi-task in a high change environment
