The HIM Imaging Specialist helps fulfill the mission of People's Community Clinic by assuring that electronic health records are managed effectively and efficiently while always maintaining the highest standard of confidentiality as per HIPAA guidelines.

 

The salary for this position is between $16 - $19 hourly

Responsibilities

  • Organize and prepare (chart assembly) documents for scanning in a timely manner
  • Provide quality control/indexing and maintain scanning equipment
  • Monitor queues such as the fax queue and respond to internal requests from clinical staff.
  • Be responsible for the release of information, storage and retrieval
  • Retrieve medical records from other entities and document these retrievals within the patient’s chart.
  • Fax the records to the indicated location.
  • File electronic clinical information in the appropriate document type with a key to quality assurance
  • Maintain the integrity of the electronic health record
  • Be responsible for assuring that health information is routed to appropriate physicians for review.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and provide appropriate response and guidance to callers as well as documenting these conversations in the patient’s chart.
  • Identify opportunities to improve work flow, work processes and patient care, and collaborate with IS staff to assist with the best technology solutions to implement these and other quality improvements.
  • Adhere to HIPAA guidelines.

Qualifications

Education:  High School Diploma/GED

 

Experience: Two years related experience

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with computer applications and databases
  • Knowledge of HIM workflow
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Able to work cooperatively as part of a team
  • Able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of confidentiality

 

Certificate/License:  Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred.
