Supports the mission of People’s Community Clinic by overseeing the flow of patients through the front office in a manner that reflects superior customer service, contributes to timely patient care, and maximizes the use of resources.

 

The starting rate for this position is between $25 - $27 hourly. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Patient Services team, including hiring, orientating, training, supervising, and evaluating employees.
  • In collaboration with the Operations Director, regularly assess PSR training needs, develop ongoing training plans and materials, and assist with training.
  • Monitor and manage the staffing schedule to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Model exemplary customer service and perform the work of Patient Service Representatives as needed.
  • Reconcile and report daily monetary collections to Finance.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient flow through the check-in and check-out processes and the appointment-setting process to ensure efficient scheduling and optimal customer service.
  • Audit processes related to patient flow and recommend changes as appropriate.
  • Serve as the liaison to other areas of the clinic, ensuring that requests, changes, and concerns from other departments are addressed promptly and with superior customer service.
  • Be present at the front desk throughout the clinic, responding promptly and appropriately to patient grievances and providing support to PSR staff as needed.
  • Create a positive environment and a strong sense of team within the PSR group.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow, work processes, and patient care, and work cooperatively to implement these and other quality improvements.
  • Adhere to HIPAA guidelines.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • College degree in a related field preferred.

 

Experience:

  • Two years of experience working in a physician’s office or healthcare facility is required.
  • Two to four years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Experience with physician billing and/or insurance preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Basic computer literacy, including spreadsheet applications, Microsoft applications, etc.
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical records and practice management systems.
  • Supervisory and time management skills.
  • Problem identification and resolution skills.
  • Flexible, self-directed team player.
  • Able to prioritize and effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interact with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines; able to function autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
