The Operations Intern will contribute to the efficient functioning of People’s Community Clinic by assisting the Operations Manager in various administrative and operational tasks. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in healthcare operations while supporting our mission of providing high-quality care to the community.

 

OBJECTIVE: The primary objective of the Operations Intern is to assist the Operations Manager in streamlining daily operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and enhancing overall patient experience.

 

Opportunity available to Plan II students through partnerships with UT.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, this individual’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate on Special Projects: Interns will actively participate in special projects that contribute to the improvement of healthcare operations. This involves working closely with members of the healthcare team to gather insights, analyze data, and propose potential enhancements.
  • Clinical Operations Support: The intern will engage with various healthcare team members to understand clinical operations and how they impact patient care. By doing so, the intern will gain valuable insight into the intricacies of delivering healthcare services.
  • Meeting Coordination and Database Entry: The intern will play a key role in scheduling and preparing for meetings related to healthcare operations. This includes coordinating attendees' availability, reserving meeting spaces, and ensuring all necessary materials are ready. Additionally, the intern will be responsible for accurately entering relevant information into computer databases, helping to maintain organized and up-to-date records.

Qualifications

Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Management, or a related field.

 

Experience: Previous experience in an administrative or operational role is preferred but not required.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of healthcare operations and administration.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and patient record management.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive attitude.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting, even in a volunteer capacity.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy practices.
  • Ability to analyze data and generate basic reports.
  • Interest in healthcare quality improvement initiatives.
