OBJECTIVE:
- The Medical Assistant Externship position leverages theoretical knowledge and practical skills gained from coursework, aiming to provide comprehensive support in a clinical setting. Eager to contribute to patient care, learn from experienced professionals, and apply classroom learning to real-world scenarios while delivering compassionate and efficient healthcare services.
- Medical Assistant Extern will rotate within each area: Adult Health, Adolescent Health, Pediatric Health, and Reproductive Health while with People’s Community Clinic.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Under the supervision of the Medical Assistant Supervisor when rotating through each area, this individual’s primary responsibilities include:
- Observe and assist the Medical Assistant in performing clinical duties, such as taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and preparing patients for exams.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment by following infection control procedures and regulations.
- Observe and assist the Medical Assistant in performing administrative duties, such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, and maintaining patient records.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient clinic operations.
- Learn and follow clinic policies and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Assist with patient education by providing information on medications, procedures, and post-care instructions.
- Participate in relevant training and educational sessions offered during the externship period.
- Take initiative to learn from medical professionals and actively seek opportunities for skill development.
- Attend and participate in educational opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
